You could help us by enabling us to improve the food we give to our students. For this we need $3225 per month.
In 2001 we started a health clinic for our students, with the help of Dr Jack Lyons and his medical students from Dartmouth University (USA). A fund for medical services was set up at the same time. We need your help in the shape of medicaments, vitamins or gifts of money so that that we can buy medicaments in Guatemala and maintain the fund.
Our teachers are excellent and all dedicated to their work, and it is a source of some concern to us that we can only offer them a low salary. Your generosity could help us to rectify this situation.
Thanks to Max Umiker and the PROBIGUA organisation in Switzerland, we already have a small computer school that offers our students the benefit of modern technology, with access to the Internet and various encyclopaedias on CD. Nonetheless, we always need new books for training these new teachers, as required by the education programme of the Guatemalan government.
We lack teaching materials for improving the quality of our lessons. We would therefore like to ask for your help in acquiring a film projector, an overhead projector, felt-tipped pens, a new board, paper, maps and other educational materials. We need $3800 per year for this.
All the students are boarders. They all come from poor and remote areas, which means they can scarcely ever visit their families. As a result they receive no financial support from home to buy what they need in the way of school materials. We would like to keep a stock of these materials to supply their needs. The cost of covering the requirements of 110 students for a school year is $6400.
